Omsoha International showcases Sri Lankan manufacturing, garment accessories and export potential at New York’s major international sourcing exhibition

Sri Lanka at Texworld NYC 2026

Sri Lanka strengthened its international textile and apparel profile at Texworld NYC 2026, where Omsoha International presented locally produced garment accessories and sourcing capabilities to global buyers. The participation placed Sri Lankan manufacturing within a major international marketplace focused on innovation, sustainability and long-term business partnerships.

Sri Lanka’s textile and apparel sector gained valuable international exposure through its participation at Texworld NYC 2026, held from 29 to 31 July at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Omsoha International Ltd. represented Sri Lanka at the exhibition, presenting its textile and apparel capabilities to international buyers while promoting the country’s potential as a quality-focused and internationally competitive sourcing destination.

The broader summer sourcing programme brought together Texworld NYC, Apparel Sourcing NYC, Home Textiles Sourcing NYC and Printsource, creating a combined marketplace for fabrics, garment manufacturing, home textiles, print design, education and industry networking.

Texworld NYC reaches a milestone year

The 2026 edition was particularly significant because it marked the 20th anniversary of Texworld NYC.

What began in 2006 has developed into one of the East Coast’s major international sourcing platforms, connecting designers, brands, manufacturers, retailers, product-development teams and sourcing professionals with suppliers from around the world.

The anniversary edition featured more than 425 international exhibitors from 20 countries, demonstrating the exhibition’s reach and the level of competition facing companies seeking the attention of global buyers

Omsoha International carries the Sri Lankan presence

Based in Ja-Ela, Sri Lanka, Omsoha International specialises in garment accessories and decorative trims supplied to clothing brands, designers, apparel manufacturers and sourcing teams.

Its product portfolio includes elastic, lace, embroidery, tapes and customised trims, combining design enhancement with practical garment functionality. The company also highlights eco-conscious materials, ethical labour practices, quality assurance and collaboration with certified manufacturing partners as important elements of its business approach.

Participation at Texworld NYC provided the company with an opportunity to display those capabilities within a highly concentrated international sourcing environment.

Rather than relying only on digital communication or intermediaries, an exhibition allows suppliers to place physical products directly before prospective buyers. Texture, workmanship, consistency, colour and finishing can be examined in person, while commercial requirements can be discussed immediately.

Business Priorities

1 Quality and Precision
2 Sustainable Materials
3 Ethical Manufacturing

Why international visibility matters

Texworld NYC was not simply a display of fabrics and finished products. Its programme addressed several issues shaping the future of textile sourcing, including sustainability, tariffs, artificial intelligence, climate resilience, trend forecasting, low minimum-order quantities and circular-fashion opportunities.

These discussions are commercially relevant to Sri Lankan suppliers.

Global buyers increasingly evaluate more than price. They may also consider compliance, production flexibility, environmental practices, innovation, lead times, quality control and the supplier’s ability to support specialised product development.

Sri Lanka already possesses an established international reputation for high-quality and ethically manufactured apparel. The Sri Lanka Export Development Board reports that the apparel and textile sector generated US$5.30 billion in export revenue during 2025, supported approximately 350,000 direct employees and accounted for 40.68% of national export revenue.

A platform for export relationships

The immediate value of an international exhibition is visibility, but its greater value can emerge after the event.

Buyer discussions may lead to product-sample requests, technical assessments, pricing conversations, supplier qualification and, where commercial expectations align, longer-term sourcing relationships.

No specific contracts or confirmed orders arising from Omsoha International’s participation had been announced in the information available at publication. However, representing Sri Lanka before an international buyer audience contributes to the broader task of keeping the country visible within a competitive global supply chain.

Strengthening Sri Lanka’s sourcing identity

Omsoha International’s participation showed how specialised Sri Lankan businesses can contribute to the country’s wider export story.

Garment accessories may represent smaller components within a finished product, but their design, consistency, durability and production reliability directly influence the quality of the final garment. This creates opportunities for Sri Lankan companies to compete through specialised knowledge and value-added manufacturing rather than volume alone.

Continued participation by Sri Lankan exporters at major sourcing events can also reinforce a broader national identity built around responsible production, skilled workmanship, product innovation and dependable international partnerships.

The SLD perspective

Sri Lanka’s presence at Texworld NYC 2026 demonstrates the importance of taking local capability directly to global markets.

For Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and exporters, international visibility must be supported by product excellence, strong digital presentation, reliable follow-up and a clear explanation of what makes the business distinctive.
